“Entering a library, I am always struck by the way in which a certain vision of the world is imposed upon the reader through its categories and its order. Some categories, of course, are more evident than others.” ~ Alberto Manguel, ‘The Library at Night’, 2006

An illustrated essay with animations and video exploring systems of categorisation in art and film drawing on writings of Jorge Luis Borges, Alberto Manguel and early texts by ornithologists as well as the work of filmmaker Hugo Santiago. The essay was one of five nominated contributors to mark the 200th entry to the online exhibition project alongside contributions from Allan Sekula, Bonnie Camplin, Neil Michael Hagerty and John Kelsey.
